Handok launchs peptic ulcer drug Gabet TAB, Korea’s first tablet of ecabet sodium
Handok (CEO Young-jin Kim) launched an incrementally modified drug for peptic ulcers “Gabet TAB”, which developed ecabet sodium into tablets for the first time in Korea. The main ingredient for the drug is ecabet sodium, a natural substance extracted from pine resin. The content of ecabet sodium had been thus far made into either granules or liquid suspensions with its unique scent and taste. Handok succeeded in incorporating ecabet sodium into table formulation with almost no taste or scent, which made it much easier for patients to take the drug without resistance, thereby dramatically increasing the compliance of the drug.
Gabet TAB is a specialized medical drug that treats stomach ulcers and improves gastric mucosal lesions (eg. erosion, bleeding, erythema, and edema) during the acute aggravation of chronic gastritis.
