Handok Inc. together with Eumseong-gun opened the “Exciting Factory Tour Center” to vitalize industrial tourism.

Currently, 11 industrial complexes are in operation in Eumseong, Chungbuk, and a total of 2,353 companies produce various daily products such as medications, milk, sausages, beer, cosmetics and even golf balls. Eumseong-gun has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s industrial tourism promotion competition project last year with the “Exciting Factory Tour Center” project, which combines local industrial complexes and conventional tourism resources. To date, Eumseong-gun has concluded agreements with nine companies in the industrial complex to promote industrial tourism, and has established the “Exciting Factory Tour Center” with Handok Inc. as a first step.

The Exciting Factory Tour Center is a unique space created by renovating the herb garden at Handok Inc.’s factory. It is composed of a tour factory, a green factory and a play factory. In the tour factory visitors can get a visual overview of all the companies in Eumseong and the products they make. In the green factory they can relax in a space designed like a forest, and in the play factory they can play around and try various factory-oriented activities.

The Exciting Factory Tour Center is only a 3-minute walk from the Handok Medico-Pharma-Museum making it convenient for visitors to look around a variety of educational attractions. The Handok Medico-Pharma-Museum boasts six treasures along with a wide range of medico-pharma artifacts of the world. Visitors can participate in a variety of programs like making fire extinguishers and learning about blood types. In addition, the Life Gallery inside the museum allows visitors to enjoy various modern artworks about life.

In the future, the Exciting Factory Tour Center will become a must-visit place of Eumseong and a key center of industrial tourism. During the Eumseong Pumba festival at the end of May, tour programs related to the Exciting Factory Tour Center will be operated to provide visitors with an opportunity to see and experience how everyday products are made.
