Handok Partners with LS Electric to Create Eco-Friendly Workplace
Handok will cooperate with energy company LS Electric to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at its production plants through introduction of a factory energy management system (FEMS) and solar power facilities.
On January 31, 2023, Handok signed an agreement with LS Electric to create a more eco-friendly workplace. Handok will begin construction of the FEMS and solar power facilities in February this year, with completion scheduled for August, and aims to be fully operational in the second half of the year. The FEMS is an integrated operation management system for smart factories to improve efficiency by reducing energy waste and loss and using various renewable energies to reduce overall energy use.
With the introduction of FEMS, Handok will produce at least 1,276 MWh of renewable energy per year. This reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 595 tons per year, which is equivalent to planting about 42,714 pine trees or reducing oil usage in thermal power plants by about 291,241 liters. Handok plans to gradually increase the share of renewable energy generation to 20% by 2025.
