Handok Pharmaceuticals Co. (CEO: Young-Jin Kim), which sells Amaryl, the nation’s best-selling diabetes drug, has initiated a program to help diabetes patients to overcome their disease.

The program named ‘Confident Step towards Diabetes Recovery’ is part of the company’s social contribution activity efforts supported by employees’ donation, aims to give shoes specially designed for diabetes patients to help manage their feet.

Patients with diabetes need not only a drug therapy but also a consistent management and diet control. Poor exercise often causes a circulatory problem, which may lead to slow or incomplete healing of wounds in their feet. With this backdrop, Handok Pharmaceuticals came up with the program to lower inconvenience caused by complications of diabetes and help patients control their disease. The program’s name implies patients can walk without inconvenience during every day activities and exercise on a regular basis.

Handok Pharmaceuticals will select 20 beneficiaries for the program on the recommendation of Korean Diabetes Association from low-income patients and those who suffer from complications associated with diabetes for more than 10 years or have other chronic diseases.

Handok Pharmaceuticals sells the nation’s No. 1 diabetes drug, Amaryl Tablet, as well as Amaryl M and Amaryl-MEX. Handok Pharmaceuticals said it will extend its full support to diabetes patients not only through its medical products but also through the implementation of the campaign.
