Handok Signs Cooperation Agreement with Microsoft Korea for Digital Innovation
On January 16, 2023, Handok signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Microsoft Korea to accelerate digital innovation at Handok headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul.
Handok will utilize Microsoft’s advanced new technology to create an IT environment optimized for digital transformation. It will enhance company-wide collaboration and work productivity through creation of a digital workplace around Microsoft 365, while at the same time applying flexible and strengthened integrated security management. In addition, it plans to convert its IT infrastructure to Microsoft’s cloud service and Azure platform to facilitate the use of data assets wherever and whenever, and in real time. In particular, Handok will build a big data platform with Azure to turn various internal systems and external information into data for strategic use to improve accuracy and efficiency in both daily work and across the business.
Handok’s computerization of the company began with introduction of the IBM system in 1984, followed by its adoption of SAP in 1997 (a first for the domestic pharmaceutical industry) to build a company-wide information infrastructure. Recently, it has been engaged in digital transformation in all fields, including sales, marketing, production, working methods, in-house education and communication, and social contribution activities. It has heightened work efficiency by automating simple tasks in all areas, including finance, sales, production, and cost, and improved situational response and work accuracy by strengthening the connection between its Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) that are operated at production plants.
